Wow, three great artworks had been removed and replaced the day before a winner is announced. Bold move. It's sad that people would go out of their way to ruin other people's happiness because they can't find their own...

  • Marlene Tolosa:

They were definitely talented, I loved the bee and flowers artist  particularly, but I believe it’s because they are not from the U.S. and the rules had stated from U.S. and a few days ago Ohuhu stated that if they were found to not be in their service area, then they would add more finalists that qualify. So obviously that’s the case. All 20 will still win awards, so I’m sure those new awardees are thrilled to be added.

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Rin Kaine: @ Marlene Tolosa:

Ohuhu falsely took out my friend out of the contest ever since you mentioned that rule, Marlene. She goes to school with me in Illinois and has been devastated ever since. What a ridiculous mistake. This is honestly very upsetting, and very disappointing in the company's lack of information into investigating whether or not they are from the US. Pitiful.

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Rin Kaine: @ Marlene Tolosa:

I'm sorry, that sounded extremely aggressive towards you. My frustration is in the company. How can they screw up paying attention to locations so badly? I just don't understand. There can also be a possibility that the others who were disqualified be from the United States but Ohuhu had a poor location check. Is there anyway I can reach out to this company?

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Marlene Tolosa: @ Rin Kaine:

I didn’t mean to cause any trouble or upset anyone. When the finalists were originally announced and people were commenting on the fact that one artist was selected twice I read the rules. I didn’t enter the contest but do know one of the finalists. I noticed that the rules listed U.S. only, it was in their rules. I was in awe of a lot of the talent and started following some of the artists and noticed that some were not in the U.S. I only mentioned it because it didn’t seem fair to other people who submitted.  But nothing changed for days. I just asked the person I know who is a finalist and she said Ohuhu contacted her yesterday to ask for her mailing address for shipping once the contest is over, so that is how they seem to be verifying address.

I’m very sorry for you friend!!! Which artwork was hers??

    Aug 19, 2019
  • cheesecake:

they should've found out who was lived in the usa sooner, like before they picked, or taking a week to pick the winners and asking people where they live.
I bet the people that got kicked off are pretty upset now...
Also fun note, the person who had 2 posts picked... still has both of them still up (She should at least have 1) thaaaanks ohuhuuuu

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Denise Roberts: @ cheesecake:

To be honest I thought that was something they would have changed when they switched out a few of the winners

    Aug 19, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Denise Roberts:

what? give more time or taking out the 2nd post? or both?

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Denise Roberts: @ cheesecake:

Taking out the second post two entries from the same person that’s a spot that could have been given to another artist

    Aug 19, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Denise Roberts:

yeah, I know.... It's honestly amazing how that was probably the #1 thing people were REALLY complaining about, and yet they probably forgot... or somethin'

    Aug 19, 2019
  • Anne Gomez: @ Marlene Tolosa:

Did she still get a prize?

    Aug 20, 2019
  • Anne Gomez: @ cheesecake:

We all know understand that it isn't fair that Ohuhu picked 2 posts from the same artist. But it wasnt against the rules, they allowed multiple submissions. Let's just let Bowgirl5 be happy and not ruin it for her. She's a fantastic artist. There will always be another contest for you to join

    Aug 20, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Anne Gomez:

what? no I know that it was ok for people to do more than 1 entry, I did too. Whats unfair is that she got picked twice when someone else couldve been picked instead, so she would be on the board and so would someone else.
Honestly, I started following Bow cause how she colours, she does deserve a spot on here, but maybe not 2? ya know?

    Aug 20, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Denise Roberts:

NEVER MIND! They cleared it up on their Instagram story that they picked both of her entries on purpose :')
So yes, she will be getting twice as many prizes now, when one could've gone to someone else who wasn't picked

    Aug 20, 2019
  • Ohuhu Official: @ Rin Kaine:

Hi Rin, we remove that painting because of the post seems not submitted within the time limit (8.2--8.16). We have sent an email greeting to the publisher and have communicated well.

Your friend is really good at drawing, we are looking forward to seeing more creative work from her.

Congratulations to these artists!! With all of these views almost no one is voting for these artists just looking and leaving horrid comments bc they didn’t win. This is sad and really discouraging for the artists!

Aug 18, 2019 1
  • Marlene Tolosa:

Agreed, when you see how many views versus how many votes. Although I think people don’t want to give their email address, they should just do voting on Instagram.

I want to congratulate all the artists for getting top 20! You all did amazing. I hope you guys aren’t affected by some of the negative things in the comments and have a great day! Good luck!

  • Elaina Fairbrother:

Agreed, KUDOS to all of the amazing artists!!

    Aug 18, 2019
  • Cindy Volz:

Yeah haters got to stop the hate. Considering this is supposed to be a community of artists, and I’d like to think of them as people of creativity and kindness, let’s support the winners, swallow our pride and be happy artists are being recognize. What a way to ruin the experience for the winners!!

If this is how unfair Ohuhu is going to be towards their fans and customers, then I don't think I'll ever buy another Ohuhu product again.

Aug 17, 2019 8
  • Zoey Carraway:

Wow okay so not only does Bowgirl5 has 2 top 20 entries, but she used products OTHER than Ohuhu too. She said she used the 120 set of Ohuhu markers but she also stated in the description of her posts that she used other products. Were we allowed to do that? It doesn't make sense to allow it for an OHUHU contest. If you were told that the drawing was made with only Ohuhu products, you'd be amazed by it and wanna buy the products, then get, disappointed when you didn't get the colors that were shown.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Zoey Carraway: @ Zoey Carraway:

I'm DEFINITELY not buying another one of their products now. #ohuhuboycott

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Zoey Carraway:

    Really?
I mean... For my entry I did use a few none Ohuhu stuff like a white gel pen and pencil, but those were for small details like water shimmers and clouds.
Did she really use more art supplies for most of her entries? Cause if so that would totally go against what they said.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Ohuhu Official:

We never limited the other art supplies. For those who only have marker pens, it is hard to get an art drawing completed done. As long as our product are used as the main tool. We will take it. Painting is a thing that frees thought. Hope our Art Contest could gather our friends to communicate and enjoy the time while you are creating.

Ohuhu you need to double check if all entries are from the US. I believe the rules said US only but it appears several might be from outside of the US.

Aug 17, 2019 2
  • Zoey Carraway:

I agree, you'd think they'd spend more time looking at everything and making sure they're following their own rules before handing out free products.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Ohuhu Official:

If they are not in our prescribed area. We will make room for others that in US area. At least 20 US participation will be chose.

The voting should have been on Instagram Instead of having each voter have to make a profile just to vote everyone has Instagram

Aug 17, 2019 6
  • Nat:

I totally agree. On Instagram it's easy to see if real accounts vote. Here anybody can create multiple accounts and vote. Some entries seem to be gaining likes too fast, 30 likes in half hour here while they hardly had any on instagram.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Nat:

Exactly! My brother actually tested this out by making a new email on a email site that just needs a username to be created (no phone number/backup email to be linked to it)
Creating the email and logging it in on the Ohuhu site took him less than 5 minutes... So really anyone could make like 50 accounts within an hour and rig this to win if they'd want :/

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Anne Shirley:

You do know there are other ways to promote the link, like Facebook, twitter, email, etc, not just Instagram. If a larger family shares it with all of their relatives then the numbers can climb quickly. Which is why they should’ve just selected the winners versus likes online. Still, all 20 (or shall I say top 19 artists) out of over 500 entries should be proud of themselves!!!!!!! Kudos, lots of talent here.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Anne Shirley:

And the possibility that people can make smurf accounts too is still out there as well...
Also... This contest was kinda unfair to say the least. There was so many other entries that were so much more creative than half of these. Not to say that these entries aren't good too, but there were some that obviously had more time and markers worked on them more that deserved a spot too.
So yeah, kudos to these folks, but BIG kudos to those who put their imagination to the test.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Jose Tolosa: @ cheesecake:

Well that seems mean to say that “more creative than half of these”!! Artistry is subjective, what I like and dislike could be different than others. Some entries clearly didn’t follow the summer theme, who knows what they judged on...could be theme, could be use of colors, could be technique of using their markers, etc. It’s fine to be critical of if the judges followed their rules, but not cool to comment of quality of finalists picked. I remember looking through the google contest and was also surprised that some entries weren’t finalists, so you can never know what goes into the judging process. CONGRATS to all of the finalists, you all are talented in your own ways!

    Aug 18, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Jose Tolosa:

Never said any of them were bad, heck I really liked some of the one's I thought didnt match the tone. Just thought I'd say what I think, not hatin' on anyone, not even insulting either, just giving some cents.
Also why is it I don't say anything mean/rude about the arts and yet people think I'm rude, and they use caps and yell at me saying I'm rude.... that's prettyy rude of people if you ask me :(

Ems Aug 17, 2019

Hey, how come heidilooart 's entry got submitted? They posted their artwork on July 9th, which was almost a full month before the art contest started. (aug. 2 - aug. 16)

Aug 17, 2019 10
  • Ems:

Oh, k8.win too. Were we allowed to just put our previous posts under the hashtags?

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Ems:

I know right? Like... They had a contest before where they stated that any art post you had you could summit as long as it had the hashtag, so they got posts from like 2 years ago enter that contest.
But here for this current contest they don't make much clear :/

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Zoey Carraway: @ cheesecake:

Yeah it wasn't made for the contest, so why should it be included in the contest?

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Zoey Carraway:

I personally think the reason why these 20 were picked was because all the photos looked professional, with nice lighting and angles, and they fitted Ohuhu aesthetics...
Which again, that's horrible to people who don't have the capability to get a nice camera but still can make great art, and yet aren't picked....

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Andie Carter: @ cheesecake:

You do realize that people use their cellphones to take pictures right? It’s not that serious. I do it all the time and you don’t need a professional camera. So instead of making excuses for others, please support the art. The artists chosen were chosen for a reason. So please don’t put them down or say they didn’t deserve it.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Andie Carter:

Never claimed that they did use actual cameras, just that it LOOKED nicely lit and professional...
And also, some people have crappy phone cameras and others have nice phone cameras.... That's all I was saying ok?

    Aug 18, 2019
  • Andie Carter: @ cheesecake:

I understand that. But the other half of your comment kinda implied that other artists would have gotten top twenty if they had better cameras. You did not actually compliment the people who got top 20 for their drawing skills at all. It sort of sounded like a backhanded compliment. I hope this comment doesn’t pass as rude, but the artists who actually got top 20 read the comments and do get affected by them. Just letting you know.

    Aug 18, 2019
  • Cindy Volz: @ cheesecake:

You’re clearly just sour because you weren’t selected. Stop the hate! Also about when people made their artwork, in reality, how can any contest limits when the artwork was made!? People could be drawing things right now for next years doodle for google contest! The reality is, you can’t know when something was created. What wood help is following the theme. However ultimately the contest dates were about when you can ENTER, it didn’t say when it had to be drawn. So just stop being so sour and move along!

    Aug 18, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Cindy Volz:

yes I'm clearly sore, even tho throughout the whole messing board I've beening talking with other people on how its unfair that someone has 2 of their posts picked... and that ohuhu had picked people who werent in the usa at first.
Also I have no idea what your text wall is talking abou-... oh... are you talking about when I mentioned a different art contest? well uh, there you go, I was talking about past one.... yeah

I DMed Ohuhu and they replyed that every person could submit more than one time. As long as the drawing is good. I think that bowgirl5 is really going great!

Aug 17, 2019 2
  • cheesecake:

I don't think the problem was that she did more than 1 entry, like doing more could get you a better chance at getting picked or something, but it was that Ohuhu themselves picked 2 of her entries. So now she's already on the board twice, when someone else could be there instead to also have a chance at winning markers...
Like what, is she gonna win two places and get 6 marker packs? That kinda seems unfair to people....

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Guccio Gucci: @ cheesecake:

    I totally agree

CacQueenK Aug 17, 2019

I feel like this was really unfair. I entered one of mine last night and it seems theyve already picked theirs, they should pick the winners themselves too so theres no cheating. Not cool, Ohuhu.

Aug 17, 2019 3
  • Zoey Carraway:

Yeah I agree. The contest said august 2 - august 16th, but we have posts from before the contest even began and posts posted before the deadline that weren't acknowledged.

    Aug 17, 2019
  • Cindy Volz: @ Zoey Carraway:

How can they know when art was made, no way of knowing. The contest dates were when to ENTER the work, it didn’t say that’s when it had to be drawn! Also, what do you mean by “weren’t acknowledged”...how would you know, you mean because the Art wasn’t selected?? That’s because it wasn’t selected, plain and simple.

    Aug 18, 2019
  • cheesecake: @ Cindy Volz:

they meant there was a post that was picked that was POSTED in the TAG MONTHS before this contest was announced. Why? Because Ohuhu re-used an old art contest hashtag...

and for the “weren’t acknowledged," thing. there was Christmas theme drawings in there.... yeah, the contest months ago was Christmas themed...

    now eveyone know :D
