I bought these markers because my mother got them for my sister, for Christmas, and she loved them.
I think when you order this product, you are risking a hit or a miss. You're either going to get some really nice quality markers at a cheap price, or you will get a mess. I happened to receive the disaster set.
To start, my black marker came cracked. When I tried opening it from the "fine" edged side, the whole tube came out.
As others have pointed out, they bleed like crazy, and inconsistently. Some of them work great, don't bleed much, and you can actually read what you write. Others...well, it just turns into one blob of color. Yes, I know markers bleed, but not all of them bleed this much.
Some of the nubs were not all the way in, as well.
One of my biggest issues with these were that the caps on some of them are nearly impossible to take off. Like, you have to almost full-strength tug it just to take it off. This can be problematic, because I'm sure doing that enough times will crack it or break it. It seems like they weren't stored in the best place, which is why some of them have gotten like this.
Finally, the actual color palette. It really just feels like whoever put this together just randomly grabbed 40 colors and threw them into the bag. I have a lot more shades of green and brown than I would ever need, and very little purples and reds. Like..one actual fire-engine red and nothing that would go before or after it.
Pretty disappointed I got stuck with the disaster pack.
The only good thing about this is that the colors I do have are pretty nice.
I hope that when I full on use these they won't bleed out of my lines, but I feel like that is bound to happen with how much they were bleeding through my color-testing page.
Edit: I used them on 300g paper. They bled through the back but didn't go onto the next page. They also bleed out of the lines abit, but not as bad as on a lower g paper. I've been contacted by the seller, and should have a new pack sent to me to fix my broken black marker.
Considering Copic markers run $10 for a single marker, these aren't the worst things in the world since you get 40 for $20. You definitely get what you pay for.
Edit 2/26/17: Received my second set, and they are definitely a little better than the first. The caps aren't stuck on as tight (only a couple are this time, vs almost the whole set last time), the tips don't seem to be about to fall out, and none of them came cracked. I received all of the same colors as the first time, so I guess they don't give you a random bunch of colors, they just make a selection that isn't as diverse as some of us would like. I have noticed that some of the ones I have aren't coming out the same color as the first batch of markers. I'll post pictures to show.
The ones that I've found are different are Baby Skin Pink, Terra Cotta, Brick Brown, Blush, and Flourescent Green.
