    I prefer to add water to half of the grounds and let soak, then add water to the second half. This process assures all the grounds are fully soaked. I have to place the filter in a large measuring cup, add water and let soak. Add the rest of the grounds, soak and then attach the filter. Having a wider lip so that the filter sits inside so that you are able to pour water through the grounds would be better
